Janet Badalamenti

RN , MA , ANPc  
Janet Badalementi, RN, MA, ANPc is a skilled nurse practitioner who has been practicing with us for the past 19 years. Since then, she has performed diagnostic and medicine therapeutic procedures including comprehensive health histories of new patient consultations and follow up visits. Janet has also provided education and counseling to patients undergoing cancer treatment and their families. Janet earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Stony Brook University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Plattsburgh University College. Janet continued to earn her Master’s Degree in Nursing from NYU, where she also served as a Research Assistant. Janet previously worked at St Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center and the Research Foundation at Stony Brook. NYCBS is proud of the wealth and knowledge that Janet has brought to us.

Julie Ann Plantamura

RN , MSN , FNPc  
Julie Ann Plantamura, RN, MSN, FNPc, is a Board-certified Nurse Practitioner with New York Cancer and Blood Specialists (formerly NSHOA) in East Setauket, New York. At NYCBS, which she joined in 2001, she provides direct care and treatment to hematology and oncology patients. Ms. Plantamura is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society, the Nurse Practitioners of New York, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She is also a sub-investigator for various clinical trials of cancer treatment drugs offered at NYCBS. In addition, Ms. Plantamura is a speaker for Amgen Oncology, Astellas, Sanofi/Genzyme, Clovis, Pfizer, Celgene, and Astra Zeneca. She has participated in numerous Advisory Boards. She has been a member of the ONS Edge Expert Panel and later a board member for her local ONS Chapter in Suffolk County, NY for the past four years. She lectures on therapies for a variety of cancers, including Lung Cancer, Multiple Myeloma, Prostate cancer, Breast cancer, and Colorectal cancer, as well as supportive care therapies. She has been published by the Anemia Management Institute as well as the International Oncology Network. Ms. Plantamura has a BS in biology with a minor in chemistry from the State University of New York at Geneseo College. She went on to earn her BS in nursing at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York, followed by her MS in nursing for the family nurse practitioner at Pace University in New York City, where she graduated with honors. She both worked and trained at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She has also gained clinical experience at Bellevue Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Maryann Fragola

DNP  
MaryAnn Fragola, MSN, ANPC, DNP is a board certified oncology nurse practitioner. She has been a preceptor for nurse practitioners and has developed a nursing education role for both patients and students. She is a graduate of Wilkes University where she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. Dr. Fragola earned her MSN degree Adult Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Stony Brook University. Dr. Fragola has experience in hematology, oncology, hospice care, and medical-surgical care in home, outpatient and in-hospital settings. As a Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Fragola’s services include, but are not limited to assessing phone and walk-in triage, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting labs and tests, and prescribing treatments and medications. She is also a sub investigator in multiple clinical research trials requiring close patient assessment, ongoing monitoring and detailed documentation. Dr. Fragola is affiliated with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Oncology Nurse Society.

Theresa M. Crafa

RN , MSN , FNPc  
Theresa M Crafa, FNP, BC is an experienced nurse practitioner who started her career with NYCBS in 2009. She is well-versed in oncology and cancer-related illnesses, including reviewing peripheral smears and performing bone marrow procedures. Additionally, she is assigned to perform hospital rounds while maintaining on-call availability. Theresa earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Gannon University. She then attended Saint Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing, where her stellar GPA earned her three Rudin Foundation Scholarships. She was then granted acceptance to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, where she earned her Nurse Practitioner Master’s Degree. She continued to excel in academics being elected as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. Prior to working with NYCBS, Theresa served as an oncology NP at Saint Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, she was also a family NP, treating patients with acute conditions and educating patients about disease prevention. Theresa’s warm personality coupled with her work aptitude makes her a vital part of our team.

Laureen Callahan

RPA-C  
Laureen Callahan is a skilled, certified Physician Assistant, with 11 years of oncology experience. Over the years, she has developed the necessary skills and expertise to become an intergral part of our team. She currently works with a team of 50 medical and radiation oncologists and serving as the physician assistant to the CEO. She works with our pain management team and eases our patients’ discomfort. In addition, she is a subclinical investigator in 10 cancer and hematologic clinical trials and research. She has experience in emergency and aesthetic medicine. Laureen earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Hofstra University, majoring in Physician Assistant studies and minoring in Psychology. Additionally, she also completed her PA graduate training at Hofstra. Prior to her career with NYCBS, Laureen worked as the Director of Clinical Operations and Supervising Physician Assistant at Linchitz Medical Wellness, overseeing all chemotherapy administrative operations including pre-surgical and prior authorization clearances. Additionally, Laureen served in the clinical rotation at numerous medical facilities including Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and Nassau University Medical Center. Throughout the years, Laureen has passed her skills and knowledge on to others serving as a preceptor at the prestigious Stony Brook University Physician Assistants program, as well as Hofstra University and Touro College. She is currently certified in chemotherapy and biotherapy and infection control. Laureen is an integral part of our team, as she always strives to provide the highest compassionate cancer care.

Melanie Acierno

DNP  
Melanie Acierno DNP attended Stony Brook University completing her undergraduate studies in 1999 and her Masters of Science in 2002. In 2008, Dr Acierno completed her doctoral thesis and PhD studies. She has practiced alongside some of the most exceptional Hematologists and Oncologists over the past 20 years. Dr Acierno is part of The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine as well as The Oncology Nursing Society.

Gina Petrella

RN , ANPc , MSN  
Gina Petrella is a skilled nurse practitioner, who earned her MS in Nursing from Stony Brook University in 2015. Prior to working at NYCBS, Gina was a nurse practitioner at Triune Health Care. She was also an RN supervisor at Developmental Disabilities Institute, and worked as an RN in medical oncology, the Emergency department and PACU at Good Samaritan Hospital. Gina is currently BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and chemo certified. NYCBS is pleased to have Gina part of its nursing team, with her talent and expertise.

JoAnne Palladino

RN , OCN , MSN  
JoAnne Palladino, RN, MSN, OCN is a skilled nurse practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience. She started her career with us in the infusion center over 10 years until she obtained her Nurse Practitioner license in 2015. She has continuously strived to provide exceptional patient care. Ms. Palladino earned her B.S.N. degree from St. Joseph’s College, and her Master’s Degree in Adult Health Nursing from Stony Brook University. She is currently CPR, BLS, and AHA certified. NYCBS is proud to have JoAnne part of our team of oncology nurses.

Kelly Mullen

MS , RN , ANP-BC  
Kelly Mullen, NP is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner who joined New York Cancer and Blood Specialists in April 2016. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y. Her oncology and hematology experience began at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in NYC as an Oncology Certified Registered Nurse over thirteen years ago. It was at that time that Kelly realized the significant impact that her work could have on both her patients and their families. This passion drove her to return to school and obtain a Master's degree in Nursing from Hunter College in NYC with her focus in the oncology field. Kelly Mullen resides in Kings Park with her husband and her three children, Colin, Tyler, and Owen.

Jonathan Catrona

MS , RPA-C  
Jonathan Catrona, MS, RPA-C is a skilled physician assistant who graduated from Touro College, obtaining a Master of Science. Overtime, he has gained the skills required to evaluate complex medical problems, while being a compassionate caregiver. In his first months of practice, Jonathan has treated each patient with unmatched compassion and care. Jonathan attributes the empathy he has developed for patients after volunteering for the AmeriCorp program. Prior to joining NYCBS, Jonathan worked in Primary Care, and Orthopedic Surgery. He is an alumni member of the Bonner Service and AmeriCorps programs at Siena College. Through these experiences, Jonathan has grown as a professional and a person. He looks forward to undertaking new tasks and gaining more knowledge about cancer disorders.

Maria Francis

RN , MSN , FNPc  
Maria Francis, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, is a board-certified nurse practitioner with New York Cancer & Blood Specialists at our Manhattan office. She received her education and training at the University of Miami, and she joined our team in 2019. She has a diverse health care background, with experience in cardiology, ICU, and palliative care. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Oncology Nursing Society.
